NSAB 2000
Freight forwarding is an economic entity that is not subject to proper uniform legislation. This is why the Nordic countries have pulled together to develop standard conditions; the General Conditions of the Nordic Association of Freight Forwarders. The standard conditions were updated in 1998 and the current version is known as NSAB 2000
The first Nordic freight conditions were laid down in 1919, following which they were renewed in 1959, 1974, 1985 and 1998. The current conditions, the NSAB 2000, were developed for Finland by the Central Chamber of Commerce, the Confederation of Finnish Industry and Employers (now part of the EK), the Federation of Finnish Commerce, the Finnish Shippers’ Council and the Nordic Association of Freight Forwarders.
The NSAB 2000 conditions, the use of which is relatively well established in the delivery sector, define the rights and obligations of the forwarder and their contractor. The conditions also define the responsibilities of the forwarder according to various delivery law conventions and regulations.
A hard copy of NSAB 2000 and a compilation of commentaries is available from our Association.
